About Arafat Islam
I write the code that makes A/B tests run on live websites. Seven years, more than 500 tests shipped to production, on ten testing platforms, for retailers, DTC brands and the CRO agencies that serve them. Arafatcro is the name I work under, and Arafatcro Ltd is the UK company you contract.
What I do
A CRO team decides what to test. I build it. That means the variation code, the targeting, the goals and events, the QA on every arm, and a clean revert when the test ends. Most of my work lands on revenue pages that are too important to break: product pages, baskets, quote funnels and checkouts, often on React or Next.js storefronts where the page changes under the test.
Brands hire me directly. CRO agencies and in house experimentation teams plug me in as their build layer, including white label work where their client never sees my name.
Background
Before specialising in experimentation I worked as a front end JavaScript developer, including at Fiftytwo. Experiment code is front end code with harder rules: it runs on a page you did not build and cannot change, and it must not slow the page down or skew the result. I have shipped more than 500 tests that way, from single line copy changes to full rebuilds such as a single product page for every radiator size at Screwfix.
Brands I have built tests for include Screwfix, Hotel Chocolat, Mamas & Papas, OVO Energy, HomeServe, GoCardless, easyJet, Travelodge and the British Red Cross. Agency partners include Brainlabs, FunnelEnvy and Convertex. The case studies show the builds in detail, including one that lost.

How I work
- Per brief, no retainer. You send a brief and get an hour estimate within one UK business day. Nothing starts until you approve it.
- UK and US hours. I am based in Bangladesh and work to UK and US business hours, so reviews and launches happen in your day.
- Written up as I go. The problems that come up on real builds end up as field notes, such as stopping A/B test flicker and sample ratio mismatch in SPA experiments.
- Open source tooling. I built abtestrig, an esbuild based build tool for experiment code, and publish it on GitHub.
